OPERATING THE BEST GAMING ROOMS
New Zealand enjoys one of the lowest problem gambling rates in the world and tight legislation protects the player in our gaming rooms. Every Lion Foundation venue operates within the strict guidelines, regulations and spirit of the Gambling Act 2003, as follows:
- Players must be over 18 years old
- 92% of money put into The Lion Foundation gaming machines is returned to the player - that is higher than any other form of gambling in New Zealand
- All venue staff undergo regular and extensive training. At all times at least one fully qualified staff member is on duty, and they are able to help players who need help or are concerned about their gambling behaviour. Management reserve the right to exclude a player should they demonstrate signs of problem gambling.
- Credit will not be extended by The Lion Foundation or by any of its venues under any circumstances.
- Venue operators can't be involved in any decisions about grants allocations.
- Hotel venues are paid a rental by The Lion Foundation, for having our machines in their premises. Consequently, venue operators have no vested interest in the gaming machines.
- There is no advertising of non-casino gaming.
- An electronic monitoring system records all transactions in gaming rooms ensuring complete transparency and protecting venue operators and machine players.
